The account has been suspended and will not be reinstated per the StartLogic Abuse Department. I email StartLogic Abuse for a backup of website. Abuse does not respond. I call support for backup of website. Support sez they can't do anything please contact Abuse. I ask support to transfer my call to Abuse. Support sez I can not talk to Abuse on phone. I ask why. Support sez for documentation purposes. I lose my cool. I ask support for supervisor. Support sez he's the senior support analyst. I ask for the president of company. Support tells me this is not possible. I hang up phone and send 3 more emails to abuse.

I now have big stress headache and no backup of website.

New webhost doesn't seem to like blogger code, running animehell on blogspot while redirecting animehell.org traffic from new webhost. It's all spit and bandaids right now, I wish I knew how to run a server box outta my garage.

Hey, have a nice Memorial Day weekend!

File sharing is bad

I'd like to apologise to everyone who came looking for Kamen Rider Hibiki video clips. AnimeHELL.org has been shut down by StartLogic for running a Bittorrent Tracker, specificly Downhill Battle's Blog Torrent. I'm in the process of setting up AnimeHELL.org on a new webhost, and until the day I can run a server on my own without any interference from a webhost it looks like I won't be useing Blog Torrent or Broadcast Machine or any sort of file sharing for fear of losing my site, again.

And the ironic part is that I signed up cheapdisposable.com on StartLogic, too. But who knows, they may find something illeagal on CheapDisposable and shut that down, too. So maybe I'll be here tomorrow, and maybe I'll be somewhere else, because that's the way the crap rolls around here...

Another boot to the head

In another set back in a series of set backs it seems that my webhost, StartLogic, has determined animehell.org is offensive and they suspended the account. Not a word from StartLogic as to what or why or who, and no chance to correct or remove the "offensive material." Nope, they just shut it off.

What a wonderful service.

HELL Shock

I wanted to talk about SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO's SHELL SHOCK/BATTLE OF BLOOD ISLAND but Amazon doesn't have the cover scan. I recommend it primarily for the inclusion of the Army training films INFORMATION PLEASE and YOUR JOB IN JAPAN. While INFORMATION PLEASE is about Nazi interrogation YOUR JOB IN JAPAN focuses on "The Japanese Brain." I don't know much about YOUR JOB but I've heard it was produced by the Capra unit but was never officially released to the troops. Still I've shown bits of it at OtakuHELL on VHS, THE SWV version has better sound so I'm thinking of showing an excerpt at AKon16.

BLOOD SUCKERS/BLOOD THIRST is one of the DRIVE IN DOUBLE FEATURES series of SWV DVDs where one selection will play an entire 3 and a half hours of Drive-in style viewing. Starting with intermission countdowns to the show followed by some trailers and short subjects and then on to the main feature. I really wish SWV would do more of these, but they've started cranking out the softcore pictures and triple bills and don't seem to be looking back. I'm still kinda sore about SWV pulling the K.Gordon Murray series from production, I wonder who showed up with the copyrights?

Do yourself a favor and watch Howard Hawks' RIO BRAVO!

Fun with Satan

One of the great things about SOMETHING WIERD DVD's is they don't skimp on the extras. They'll pack 2 movies on a DVD and throw in a dozen old movie trailers, a couple of shorts and maybe even a slide show of old movie posters and flyers. Super retro-cool! The other day I dropped ASYLUM OF SATAN into the DVD player and was clicking around the extras and found a funky little short: Satan offers a woman "fun, excitement, love, romance, and success in business" if she promises to wear a pair of Satanic Shoes in the marvelously tacky 30-minute Featurette, "The Soul Snatcher" I'm gonna edit out a section of this for OtakuHELL...

Cargo Cult

I like animation. Cartoons are my crack. So, the question is does CLUTCH CARGO qualify as animation? "Syncro-Vox" has to be the bottom end of limited animation. Any more limited and you'd be using cardboard cut outs on sticks. Despite the creepy fleshy RED lips imposed on static illustrations CLUTCH and his pals are entertaining. Of course cartoons this old have some politically correct issues, but if you can get past that you could show these to your kids. And of course these are perfect for running in the background of your next party. Now if they'll only release SPACE ANGEL on DVD...

Sleazy enough for you?

Mundee asks me about a Swedish movie that inspired KILL BILL called THRILLER. I mentioned that there are alot of Girl Empowerment/Rape Revenge movies out there, enough to be it's own genre. The one that comes to mind first is I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE aka DAY OF THE WOMAN.

GRAVE is a hard film to watch. It's one of those movies that makes me very uncomfortable, and despite that I'd have to say it's very well done. But I wouldn't take a date to see it...

THRILLER - EN GRYM FILM
aka THEY CALL HER ONE EYE is A CRUEL FILM. But it has less of a visceral punch then GRAVE. Mostly because it focuses more on it's sex then it's violence. It's plot seems to have been lifted from a Shaw Brother's movie, but filtered through some 70's sleaze when Swedish meant sex and stewardesses. I won't take a date to see this movie, either...

Ultraman Tiga on Region One

I finally got the final volume of ULTRAMAN TIGA and I've gotta say I'm impressed. 4KIDS did a great job packaging this series. I know I've said this before, but at 13 episodes over two disks per volume you really get your money's worth. On the downside, it's in the original Japanese with subtitles. Don't get me wrong, the translations are very good and the subs are quite readable, but this is a kid's show. And you'd probablly get more kids to watch it in the english dubbed broadcast form.

Of course, KIKAIDA is being broadcast in Hawaii and California in it's original Japanese with English subs and it's doing quite well.

In comparison with the KIKAIDA DVDs the ULRAMAN TIGA extras are disappointing. They aren't as interesting or fun or well, worthwhile. And then there are all the promos for The FOX BOX and all the 4KIDS shows which really don't have anything in common with ULTRAMAN TIGA except by virtue of being licensed by 4KIDS. Seriously, I'm not interested in buying a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD, thanks.

With any luck ULTRAMAN TIGA will find an audience. And it deserves an audience who'll discover it in the bargain bin and be charmed by it's monsters and strange alien hero. And spend the summer nights running through the yard pretending to be members of G.U.T.S. protecting the Earth.

TIMEQUAKE!!!

I watched MILLENNIUM over at Josh and Michael's place and I gotta say, this is a bad movie. Lucky for us it's so bad it's good. The perfect fodder for making fun of with a room full of friends. In some future post I'll go into details of this wonderfully horrible movie, but for now I'll just say rent it and watch it and whenever there's a "Timequake" finish your drink...

Do it with Triplets

This is an amazing film. It's fun, it's stylish, it's unique. You'll probably never see this on Cartoon Network, but it's something that any animation lover should see. Highly recommended!

Robert E. Howard's other barbarian

Caught KULL on the skiffy channel. Found it to be rather boring. I wonder who decided that every action piece needed screaming metal guitars. It comes off as a low rent version of Universal's syndicated HERCULES show. Only recommended if you don't really care about what you're watching. Heck, I'd strongly suggest reading the Robert E. Howard source material before watching this movie...

mmeiser blog: Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown - a peanuts gang remix

Found this Blogpost while checking the traffic logs. Funny how a Calarts student film is a "remix" but maybe they're using a different definition of the word then I am...

Dancestuff

It's been a few days since I did a DVD review, so lemme recommend SHALL WE DANCE. No Richard Gere. No Jennifer Lopez. No Susan Sarandon. Nope, this is the original version, the one directed by Masayuki Suo. In the Original Japanese.

This is a damn good movie. I first saw it back when I lived in Mipple City, rented from the Hipster Video Store down the block. When I came to Texas I found out that Bruce had a copy and would show it to anybody and everybody.

Why bother watching the American remake in this age where you can easily get ahold of the original. On the down side, they put a making-of-the-american-version hype clip in the extras, like we really give a flying f*ck about that...

The strongest monstrous beast in history!

The strongest monstrous beast in history! Posted by Hello
The enormous picture was found with the net.
It is the strongest monstrous beast in history!
Don't you think? it is the impact which exceeds the union monstrous beast tyrant who appears in the ultra man tallow -!

The fact that it has the neck of 3 large monstrous beasts of Godzilla, the キングギドラ and the キングコング is is to call, but don't you think? the fact that the Cub To of large demon God is covered on the head of the king コ ン グ compulsorily is.
Something it is visible in the large demon God which the tremendous stupid face is done, with special care force is ruinous.

The Godzilla one eye with the ultra man, still from the hand of the scissors of the val tongue star person and the arm of the lead king has put out to the スペシウム light ray.
As for the ultra man there is no monstrous beast it is!
The monstrous beast and the ultra man it is this strongest monstrous beast of mixing, certainly as for this however it is strong, with just the monstrous beast not to total not coordinate ち ゃ useless it is!
Something, it becomes the kind of feeling where the looks of the clothes looks at the る person by mistake.

Hundred eye ghost gamma which don't you think? the tail of the ゴモラ you attach and how in appears " demon " - the eye!
As for here and others side you can appraise probably will be as the オシャレ which is not the り げ (laughing)

The wing of the radon and the foot of the ガメラ, the scale of the ガッパ, the dorsal fin of the Mullah (the shell) it is good very, don't you think? is.
As for this you think it is very good choice.

Letter of the picture collapsing, being not to be able to read, it does, but it seems that the fin of some monstrous beast is attached in the neck.
" The fin of 00 ゴン " it seems that is written, but it probably is the fin of some monstrous beast?

But presence word わ this force of ぬ!
We liked completely, but everyone how probably will be?
This much large monstrous beast uniting, certainly it can win no one, don't you think?, just it is the strongest monstrous beast in history.

Drawing the picture of the monstrous beast as for the proud person, exceeds the strongest monstrous beast in this history, trying drawing the original union monstrous beast, how, probably will be?
So, as for the union monstrous beast which exceeds this monstrous beast very it is not, probably will be * & & *.
It is tasty, taking the cousin entirely, it increases because well.

Louie Chin's Onamaska

Onamaska Posted by Hello
Louie Chin is a damn good artist, colorist and cartoonist. Not too mention that his website is very well designed. Now he's got a new site that's more blog then gallery, and it's still showcasing his good stuff. I owe him a fistful of zines for letting me use some of his Oekaki doodles in last year's ACen issue of PGZine. I'll get 'em to you Louie, just you wait!

PGZine at ACen 2005!

Putting together the Psychommu Gaijin zine for this weekend's con in Chicago. Looks like it's gonna be pretty nice, maybe on the slim side, but pretty good on the whole. I'll try to post a PDF of the zine online when It's done...

What's a KVCD?

KVCD.Net Posted by Hello
This looks interesting. Especially if you really do get MPEG2 level quality on a VCD. Not that MPEG2 is all that great, it has it's problems. You can see compression errors on poorly authored DVDs, a real problem with MPEG2. Of course MPEG2 is a step up from VCD quality MPEG1...
