FLxER

Crap.

Crap crap crap.

Crappity crap crap.

Can this be incorporated?

I can split the gifs and load them into liveswif, I think. Too bad liveswif keeps crashing.

Update: Hold shift while executing liveswif. Whut?

Crap. I don't know why I'm even using this program. I have better luck mucking around with Toon Boom.

How the heck did EBN do it?

Because I'd like to do what EBN did. Or what TV Sheriff does right now. Simple looping and triggering video clips. Nothing else! No extra crap. No bloatware. I don't want filters. I just want to do what EBN used to do. Love a duck, the "Standard Version of Vjamm" is no longer available. And the demo won't install. (And to be honest, I thought the original Vjamm was a stand alone flash app that didn't need to install.) Frustration is setting in. Grrr...

mute has a lot of potential. I need to experiment with it a bit.

DVC thinks I should put all my little animations up on YouTUBE. I guess I need to edit together a loop.

In stately Xanadu...

A raft of literary dreams haunted me last night. I wish I could've Coldridged back a few of the verses that I'd heard in the dreams. Strange poems about fandom and cannibals and the Brady Bunch. Yeah. Good stuff. I wonder what set off the language in my head. It's rare for me to have a dream so centered on talking and conversation. And even rarer for them to have rhyming couplets. It felt like somebody flipped a switch or I'd accessed a new part of my mind. Weird.

Another thing

On the Green

I had a dream and it was a 1930s Hollywood Gangster Musical movie. All singing and all dancing. The movie was about a Golf Tournament, an urban golf tournament played on the rooftops of an incredible art deco Metropolis. I played a small time bookmaker, complete with a suit, tie and hat. And I'm making book on the golf tournament. Not just the out come of the tournament, but every hole, every stroke and every player. I've got a small army of street kids running the numbers for me. And my gimmick is I give shiny new pennies to all the kids working for me. So my gangster name is, of course, "Danny the Nanny." The running gag through the picture is that I don't like the name and keep trying to get another tough guy sounding gangster name to stick.

The Tournament is being sponsored by Bruce. He's a publisher but he's also a gangster. Bruce is playing in the tournament and has a nice musical number at the start of the movie. Which I can't remember much of the details of except there's lots of dancing on the top of an art deco building.

Meanwhile I find myself in a posh penthouse in the middle of the golf course. The penthouse is the place to be, because you can watch the whole tournament from it and it's a private party being run by Ed, who is also a bookmaker. In an exchange I point out that I take more bets then Ed. Ed points out that he may take fewer bets but they are high dollar bets. Then I point out that throwing a party in a penthouse cuts into his profits. To which Ed replies, "Touche."

At the party I meet Brett and E.K. Brett is a gang boss and I report to him which leads to another big show number. E.K. is also a bookie and is backing a rookie golfer in the tournament who is up with the leaders. Even if the golfer doesn't win E.K. stands to make a lot a money.

Things get a bit confusing now. There is a budding romance between two young golfers which gives us a another musical number. And then there's a Nazi golfer and a plot involving 5th columnists.

Unfortunately I woke up before the 3rd reel and have no idea how the movie ended.

What the heck?

IMG_3811
The OhayoCon experience just keeps giving. And I haven't posted the video taken fron Gavv and Jeff's show. Of course that needs to be edited first. The raw footage is just too raw for public consumption. I wonder what Jeff is doing with the footage. Maybe a voice over is needed? Music overlay? Maybe a music video?

Crap, gotta get back. But seriously, what the hell do I know?

Maybe I need to make a teaser promo for all the May HELLs? There's something I can do with that and the static patterns...

Odd boxing

pillshot00
Time to crank up the machine. Need to find more clips for this year's HELL. And I need to make a list of things that need to be animated, too.

Like more static screens for inbetween clips for Gavv and Jeff. I can do those now.

And the HELL PSAs must be done. I've got less then 3 months. Get to it.

And so you realize...

Post-it Note Theater is canceled

Photobucket
My GPEN isn't working. I updated the Digital Scribe software but the pen doesn't work. The heck? I'll try it on the Averatec and see what happens.

Update: My Star Fleet/X-Bomber DVD box set just showed up in the mail. WOOT!

Update: It still won't work. Batteries are dead?

Oh-Hell-Oh, Texas Style

Hell is suffering. And yet I continue to suffer the torments of Hell willingly. Despite the agonies of Hell I keep doing it. I'm either too stupid to stop or I just haven't learned my lesson. Or maybe I'm enjoying it in some twisted and unhealthy way that I don't even realize. Please, no sympathy. I'm no saint ran through with arrows or drawn and quartered or beheaded in some martyrly fashion. Trust me, I'm getting what I so richly deserve. And it'll probably destroy me in the end.

It's not AnimeHELL unless something goes wrong. I've had to come to terms with this. May Heino give me the strength to deal with the problems that plague AnimeHELL.

The problems had started early. Thursday morning, before I got on the plane to go to Columbus, I got the blue screen of death on my laptop before I could burn the new DVDs I wanted to play at HELL. It was an epic headdesk moment. Out of time, all I could do was pack my external hard drive that I had backed up the DVD files onto and hope that Jeff and Gavv could help me before Saturday night's show. Then get on the plane.

Luckily, Jeff had a DVD burner. Unfortunately we didn't have any blank DVDs. So there was a chilly walk to CVS for a spindle on Saturday morning. Once we got the DVDs burned I thought I was in the clear. Not so.

I had the advantage of seeing how the setup for Friday night's Anime Hell worked which allowed me to plan for the layout of the room and position of the screens. And we had an hour of setup before the show to move tables and chairs and microphones. No problems, right? Unlike Gavv and Jeff, I used an Svideo output. And there was no Svideo input for the hotel's AV. And, in my short sightedness, I hadn't packed any other cables for my portable DVD players. Fortunately Jeff had brought down his computer for AMV Wars which had been rescheduled for later that night. In the end we ended up doing the show from Jeff's computer and the hotel's DVD player. And while it wasn't ideal, it worked.

And with this new setup we began Saturday night's "Texas Style" AnimeHELL. Bruce Lewis showed up with a bag of sliders and was soon joined on the microphone by Brett Weaver and J. Michael Tatum. While Joshua Roberts captured our antics on camera. And don't forget the always adorable Hell Nurse Katie baring prizes and treats for all the good little Anime Hellions.

At some point during the show Emily told us that the hentai dubbing panel that was scheduled to follow us in the room was canceled and asked if we could fill the time slot. While things can go wrong at Hell, sometimes they also go very very right. And this was a unexpected bit of good that balanced out the bad. So we continued on into the early hours of the morning.

Sometime after 2:30am we showed the last clip and put a bow on OhayoCon's first OtakuHELL.

I wanna thank everybody who came out to the shows. Especially the folks who stayed to the very end. You guys rock. Thanks to the OhayoCon staff for putting up with us. And thanks to Bruce Lewis, Brett Weaver and Michael Tatum for the magic that they bring to the show. A big thanks to Joshua Roberts who captured the whole event on camera. We'll be posting the photographic evidence on the AnimeHELL website later in the week. And, of course, thanks to Hell Nurse Katie for her deadly ninja-nurse candy throwing skillz. We love you Nurse Katie! And a special thanks to Ryan Gavigan and Jeff Tartarek for making the whole thing work. Heck of a job fellas!

I wonder if they make that

king_kong_escapes_poster_01
As usual, I enjoyed the Peelander Z show at Ohayo. Those guys get it. And I really liked the video clips they played on the screen. I wonder what they used to get the edits and remixs. Time to use google-fu.

Update: I fail.

My brain hurts.

The Theater of Dr. Mabuse

In the dream. It was a party. And it was a stage. I stood with a drink in my hand as the terror rose inside me. The cold threat of death was there.

"They don't want to be saved. They want to be entertained."

"They want to escape the boredom of their boring lives. Boredom is the enemy. And we must distract them from that truth."

"They hunger for entertainment. And we are the entertainers."

"But no one would give their lives to be entertained," I countered.

"Of course they will. Everybody is dying to be a star."

Dig out the recovery discs

Moved all the files off of the Averatec. Tonight I'll have to reinstall. Oh well. I'm thinking while that's going on I'll try to bring the RenderFARM back up, too. If possible. I'm not sure, but I think the power supply is crapping out. I suck.

I really need to back up this blog.

The new kazoo review

Back from Ohio. Gonna start looking for Kazoos for the next Hellshow. Plus it looks like I need to upgrade all my equipment. A hard lesson was learned.

Need to find a good quality copy of the a-ha Take on Me music video. I've got a weird idea for a parody project. Curse you illusion of movement!

Ok, here we are at the beginning of February. We've got roughly 3 months until May and the madness of HELL. Let's see how much we can get done before then. First off, I need to fix the Averatec. And while I'm at it I need to fix the RenderFARM, too. Here we go. I've made a Linux on a stick thumb drive and hope I can use it to move all those files off both machines. Then we'll nuke the site from orbit. I'm pretty sure I can boot from USB on Averatec. I'm not so sure about RenderFARM. We'll find out tonight.
