Looking for a way to get a 3d model of the 2oth Century Fox logo to alter for the opening seconds of the stVSsb animation. Of course I want to change it to Anime Hell .org or something like that. I found a couple of models made in Google SketchUp. Unfortunately I've never used SketchUp. So, that's something else I need to get and learn. Woof.

I'm not sure why, but the comics aren't showing up on the ComicPress page. Crud. Well, it looks like it will work, but not the way I thought it would. I'm obviously not doing this right. I can see right now the biggest problem I'm gonna have with this it I'm just not as familiar with WordPress as I am with Blogger. In fact I'm very confused by the WordPress CSS, I'm even sure where to start to change the colors or add the HNK graphics and logo. Grrr. I suck.

Meanwhile, much inking on pages. I'll finish this up tonight and then get to work on the ahVSsb animation. Much to do, much much to work on.

I think I'll do the lettering on a separate page and composite it in Inkscape, tone it up and output the PDF for publication. Job done! Next!

Spent much time drawing pages for HNK while the weather was wonderful outside. And while I wish I could've spent more time outside I had some really good pages by Sunday night's meeting. And as long as I can hold out, there will be more good pages. Man, this is gonna be a really good book. I guess I need to work on my work habits some more, spend more time at the ink pot every day. I'd get a lot more good pages that way.

I've been thinking about setting up the CoimcPress WordPress webcomic theme for the HNK deal. I'll bring it up at the meet next Sunday.

HNK Deadline 10:01 AM

Right now pretty much all my evenings are devoted to working on the HNK pages. Deadline is Sunday. And other then losing a page to an ink spill I'm doing some good stuff. I may rework a few pages if I have the time.

Once I get this done It's back to the ahVSsb animation. Feeling pretty good about that.

Of course as I work on the HNK pages I keep coming up with gags for the ahVSsb animation. Maybe if I work on the ahVSab animation I'll come up with more material for the HNK project. Hmmm. Or else my mind will go completely off the track and I'll start thinking about clips I want to show at AnimeHELL. I've lost the plot.

I'd really like to go back and finish that introduction that I was writing for the HNK book. I'm ruminate on that one while I'm abusing the ink.

No worries, It'll all come together in the end.

I decided to emulate Saul Bass's poster for Man With the Golden Arm for this year's AnimeHELL fliers. So, I built my own version of it in Inkscape. Now I just need to figure out the center element.

I may just do the next flier on the Vertigo poster.



Looking forward to Kaiba. Looks like I'm not the only one.

Misguided thoughts are crowding my mind. I post sketches and comics and get maybe a half dozen replies, which is pretty nice, actually. But mostly I get a seemingly indifferent silence. Which I find rather discouraging. I guess I really need to get over that. Draw for myself and nothing more. Achieve some sort of zen mastery to ignore that feeling of not being accepted, and maybe even rejected by others. Create in a vacuum? There is something to that. I do a lot of good work when I'm isolated and away from people and phones and other distractions. But I'm sure it's that way for most people. Work environments are something that are part of the process, something you can't always control. Or maybe you can.

Draw it like you own it.

It's looking like ToonBoom is the one right now. I'll keep Moho as a backup, but ToonBoom looks like the deal for animation right now. We'll see what happens.

I really wanna talk to somebody who uses Flash for animation. I got a ton of questions and I'd really like to see somebody with experience at work. Of course the word is you can use svg instead of Flash. I wonder how.

Looking into Monkey Jam.

Crap. I really need to set up the OtakuHELL online store, soon. We'll need a place to sell the HNK book from. And anything else we come up with.

Monkey Jam looks really good. I'm gonna sit down with it tonight and see if I can remake the AHvsSB clip for Gavv. The fact that there are folks using Monkey Jam with Inkscape makes me think it may work better then Pencil for this kind of thing.

I remembered that Eddie and Lily posting on their Fwak! blog that they were switching from Flash to ToonBoom. In which case I've already bought a copy of ToonBoom and I should also try to remake the AHvsSB clip with it. Steep learning curve or no, I will, no, I MUST DO IT!!!

Tried to work around the missing audio swf but couldn't make it work. Still a few things I haven't tried, like converting in Magic2swf and adding the audio track, but I may have to give up on Pencil for now.

Gonna try using CreaToon and see if that'll work. Hmmm. CreaToon isn't installing on the AccountingDell. I guess I'll try the Averatec tonight. http://www.creatoon.com/tips.php

And while I'm thinking about it, The AnimeHELL fliers. I'm gonna use the art from the AnimeHELL 2008 intro project for the fliers. Why didn't I think of that before? Dude, I'm not working all the angles.

Did a 10 second test for the Feature Presentation loop. It seems VirtualDub is picky when it comes to codecs. It didn't like the mpegs I made from my generated swf files. Looks like I need to find a work around for that.
