Flexible Flyers

I'm interested in trying to make some new flyers in that Soviet/Bauhaus Typography style. I have a couple of books on the subject with some great examples, mostly movie posters from the 20's and 30's. It's something I'd like to learn from, and maybe apply to the current Motion Graphics styles that are becoming dominant in commerical animation and ads.

It seems to me that what makes those posters work is not only the typography, but the bold layouts and bold color schemes. Design is at work, and the design is strong stuff.
