Still, I got a few pages penciled and inked over the weekend, and I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Inked the Deliberately Misleading Horror Cover concept, which I may just post to the HNK blog only because It's not for publication, but it's not so bad in it's tossed out way.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do the, "What is AnimeHELL and what's the deal with Hell Nurse Katie?" comic. I just haven't found the hook to hang the whole thing on. Maybe as a fake docu-comic? I dunno, have Crossy narrate with the Magical Pill Pals? Somehow it's not working, yet. Gotta work this out before the deadline.

Want it to look like an old beat up film 1:01 PM

I'm hoping that I can use VirtualDub and a filter to make the AnimeHELL Title Cards look like an old beat up film. Looks like it's working...

If I can get this to work I'll redo the OtakuHELL eyecatch with the Old Film Filter, and maybe I'll run the AH2008 Intro through, too.

This weekend will be devoted to AnimeHELL. I want to finish up the rough edit of the AH2008 Intro with music and convert a batch of FLV files to DVD for Bruce's playlist.

Holy Crud, it worked. Not alot of scratches, but I think I can tweak that in the filter settings. Jeez, the output file is almost 5GB! Ok. That's not expected.

I just did a four page layout of karaoke drama that'll probablly end up in in either Shiot Crock 14 or as a Lil' Nurse Katie episode. Karaoke Drama, that's a good title for this cartoon. I'll ink this up tonight. I bet I can't use it in the book, lyric copyrights and all that.

While watching Wild Cinema last night I decided I need to make "Feature Presentation" cards for OtakuHELL. I'll put 'em in front of the longer clips, like Klaus and Ninja Squad. And maybe I'll have a rickroll in there, too. Of course that means I need to find the Rick Astley DVD. Thank you Amazon UK!

Worked on some cover designs for the HNK book. I had an idea for a triptych cover where Ed, Bruce and I all draw HNK in the same pose and have a sorta "Three faces of HNK" edited together cover.

Gotta whip up that Stag Magazine HNK cover, too.

And a Pop Art style cover, while I'm at it.

Moovl 8:16 AM

A simple animation program from the folks who made Sodaplay. Similar to Moving Sketch, except with built in physics, which you can control. Too bad you can only save your animations to the Sodaplay website. Like Moving Sketch, Moovl is a Java application. But you can export your animation in Moviing Sketch to SWF. Not so with Moovl. Maybe there's some way to work around this?

The days have been filled with filling the washing machine and loading the dryer and folding and sorting of the clothing. And I'm still not done yet. Good grief.

I've decided to replace the bent and broken crappy crate staircase for the cat with a storage container staircase. Three containers costs about $25 with tax, and I'm gonna need at least 20 containers to make the steps, so I'm looking at almost $200. But it's got to be done. So, I'll buy a couple every week and I should be able to get this done before summer. Barring any unforeseen money problems. sigh.

I'm really liking these Itoya Blade fountain pens, I need to go down and pick up a few more to salt away for the future.

Worked on MAS and HNK and even did a few AHvsSB. This ought to be a good weekend for working. Now when do I get my laundry done? Bundle service? Crap. Well, at least cartooning is free. Or at the very least very cheap.

Cartooning and animating 8:50 AM

I'm working my way up a nice drawing streak. Let's try to keep this one going for a few days or maybe a week, or two.

Between the HNK book and the AHvsSB animation I think I'll have plenty to do. And thanks to the computer I'll have the tools to do it, too. Welcome the the 21st Century.

I was just working on Atomo for the MAS comic and I realized that Atomo's head is similar in construction to Bugs Bunny. Weird. Hmmm, Atomo has a pear shaped body, too. I only noticed this as I was trying to simplify how I draw Atomo. Simpler is better because simpler is quicker to draw. The simpler the image is the more you have to work with basic design. At least that's what I'm thinking. Not being an artist I have no idea if that's right or wrong. And if only in my opinion, I think simpler looks better. Seeing the basic shapes in the construction and the composition of a drawing is certainly more rewarding.

One of the things that bugs me the most about the HNK work is that I'm not happy with my drawings of Katie. I've drawn pages and pages trying to work out and simplify the construction of HNK but I'm not quite there yet. Gotta keep working at it.

On the other hand I was able to work out the construction of Crossy quickly because he's a simple shape. Although I noticed that even I was breaking those rules in some of my recent sketches of Crossy. I wonder what that says about my drawing ability?

I had already started work on the AnimeHELL Intro 2008 art when I realized I forgot about the widescreen letterboxing. So, I had to figure out the exact pixel size for a 16:9 ratio widescreen: 60 pixels above and 60 pixels below on a 720 x 486 NTSC frame. Well, better late then never.
