Something in the slush 7:30 AM
Poking around Digital Webbing Talent Search. Nothing really interesting, except this:
Fan-Atic Press just put out SLAM BANG #1 vol III and everyone loves it! 200 digest pages, slick color covers from 50 contributors. Want to be in #2 so does everyone that sees #1! Looking for 4 to 10 page comic stories. Do you want to get your work in print? Your time has come!Over at their website they throw in a 2 inch by 5 inch ad in the back of the digest to go along with a contributer's copy. That's a good idea.

CatWatch 11:02 AM
The weekend was spent catting about and watering Mundee's yard. I mostly overheated and sweated and took showers. And sat with Angus and watched Memorial Day movies. Can't get enough of those...
And now another memorial. Alex Toth passed away Saturday morning. He was 77. I learned alot from his work. Another giant has left us.

RCA Home Theater System 3:06 PM
I get the tracking number in the morning's e-mail. Then maybe an hour later the FedEX guy shows up with it. He says he's got 3 more on the truck. Coolness.

Enorme Japones Animacion HELL 2:10 PM
This is David Smith's flyer for his and Phil Lee's upcoming show. Very nice design. I always like to see other people's flyers. The ideas for design, what they put in and what they leave out. It's part of a diologue. Between the person who makes the flyer and whoever reads the flyer. And I kinda wish there were more folks making flyers for the shows. But that's just me.

Animating banners 12:53 PM
The idea is to make a syndicated banner that we'd offer the code on a banner page and it'd be a news like banner. That is, I'd make a new banner for what ever upcomming show(s)and use the same url so that the bannner whould refreash with the new graphic. But that'd mean alot of work, too. I need to think this through...

A much better tool then OurMedia. OurMedia wants to be some sort of social/media thing and I've already got my own blogs thank you very much. Don't need any more MySpace style wanking. Just give me the tools to upload and post MP3s and Video to the Interent Archive. That's all I really need...

ichigo_babe: A-fest recap, etc. ..the story of my life.: "...we went to her room and chilled for a bit then i went an got into costume for Otaku Hell ( I had never been before!) So I finally made my way to Otaku Hell and watched for abit, but I looked around
...no Mundee was to be seen, so I went to find her! And I finally did, and she turns to Bruce and was like "have you introduced her to everyone?" and i was thinking "what?" so He took me into the panel room and introduced me to EVERYONE (and to think i was just expecting to meet the people working x.x) well...there was that "ok I'm standing here in the middle of the front of the room...what now?" so in a twitch of nervousness I followed Bruce to the table and made myself comfy (not as nervous infront of the crowd as appose to in it) his friend (michael?) offered me some Cider...I honestly thought it as some kind of energy drink so i took a few sips..realized what it was and tried to play it off cool..finally leaning over in my dehydration and asked for some water) Otaky Hell was major super fun times I LOVED IT!) then the next thing i know Michael leans over to bruce and was like "can we turn her mic on?" and Bruce was like "that's a great idea!" and I'm like "Are you sure you wanna do that?" lol it was funny, so we pegged the audience with Candy ( I hit three people ^^;;) and had some fun times. Then it was over and they hooked me up with some of the stuff imparticular I liked (the banned Disney stuff, Fish fight, etc.) So i scored me some prizes! I hope they'd invite me to do it again! (I'll keep my arms down more) lol They even got a pic of me all like "rock on" during one of the shorts."

redneckgaijin: Spotting the Elusive Redneck...:
"I'm the one in the red shirt on the very left edge of the pic, about to enjoy(?) over four hours of Anime Hell- the only me-time event I did at ShiokazeCon.
Incidentally, the guy with all his hair (and maybe someone else's) in the dark jacket is Bruce Lewis; seated in front of him is Steve Gonzales, the artist for the cover of Bootleg #14. He's currently working on another project we HOPE to release for the first time at Project: A-Kon this year."

The_Dave_of_Concordia's Xanga Site: "The only panel we attended was one called Otaku Hell. It featured many hilarious, and cult favorite, clips. For instance, they had the famous German training video of the don'ts of using a forklift. They also featured a trailor of a very old American cartoon that looked horrible. Those types of clips. There were two other panles we showed interest in but because areas weren't well marked we didn't bother looking for them."

deviantART: Valesse: "Shiokaze-con was alright, my legs are burning from descending 25 floors in five-ten minutes. All I have to say about that is I KNOW what the Lord of the Dance sees when he looks down.
Probably the highlight for me was the Otaku-Hell, or Anime Hell. For those who aren't in the 'know' its a collection of awkward clips from various parts of the media/planet/centuries with some biting commentary. From Ninjas to Newports, there was a large selection of hysterical.. stuff. Man is my brain fried. I saw Yatta, Domo-kun, A German safty video, even a few demented laughing president-puppets...but none of it prepared me for Soapy.

Sequential Tart: Article - AnimeFest 2004 (vol VII/iss 10/October 2004) 8:55 AM
Sequential Tart: Article - AnimeFest 2004 (vol VII/iss 10/October 2004): "The premiere of an interesting mix of politically incorrect commercials, shows, and cartoons called 'Otaku Hell' took place Sunday night in Theater Room 1. The first 100 people to show up got little buttons with the Taco Bell icon and the words 'Otaku Hell' printed on them. Viewers got to see long previews for blaxploitation movies like Blacula and Dolemite, as well as a commercial for huge calculators from the 70s that could only do the basics and cost about $350 each! I saw a famous Japanese music video for a song called Yatta, which many anime fans are familiar with because of its visuals: imagine five men jumping around to happy music with nothing on but thongs shaped like leaves. It was like the Japanese YMCA, except the guys weren't all that good-looking in the near nude. Otaku Hell even presented a pre-WWII Disney cartoon with a Nazi Donald Duck. Yes, for real. The audience was rolling."
I think this was the 4th OtakuHELL we'd done at AnimeFEST. It was just the first year we'd been put in the big AV panel room.

Damn. I really like how that worked out. It's not how I designed it in my head, but it's striking and readable and I don't think it needs anything else...
