Cold, rainy, grey days finally gave way to the sun. I took advantage of the gloominess to get a few projects going. Found that my old copy of Quicktime Pro won't allow me to export quicktime files with sound. And I don't know why. And I don't want to pay another $30 for the current version of Quicktime Pro.

The Crane

Trip Shakespeare - The Crane
(written by: WIlson/Munson)

From the album "Across The Universe"

Hear me tell how the hounds of the bankers
Took my mind to the freaking ridge
How the claims and the howling reminders
Kept my eyes from their rest at night

When the dogs of the bank are upon me
And they've come to repossess my car
I'll be found at the base of the canyon
I'll be torn from the wreck of the motor

All you men that live for the evening
Seven hours when the light forgives
And you race like a dog when he's dreaming
And you wait for the yank of the hook

Understand that the chains are magical
And they strain to keep you where you are
I'll be found at the base of the canyon
I'll be torn from the wreck of the motor

Let the Crane take back the engine
Let the crane take back the wheel
And I feel that the world should come with me
When I ride to the crack in the earth (x2)

Hear me tell how you walk into a dreamland
With a line from the back of your head

To the wheel that revolves at the center
And you wait for the yank of the hook

When the dogs of the bank are upon me
And they've come to repossess my car
I'll be found at the base of the canyon
I'll be torn from the wreck of the motor

Let the Crane take back the engine
Let the crane take back the wheel
And I feel that the world should come with me
When I ride to the crack in the earth (x2)
When I ride to the crack in the earth, ah ha!

Let the Crane take back the engine
Let the crane take back the wheel
And I feel that the world should come with me
When I ride to the crack in the earth
Oh I feel you should come with me
Yes I feel you should be here
And I feel that the world should come with me
When I ride to the crack in the earth

Ah ah Oh oh Ah Ah Ah------!

PUBLIC DOMAIN

The section of American copyright law known as "The Berne Act" clearly states: films unreleased in the United States, including original version of films altered and/or edited for release in the United States, are not protected by American copyright; thus, they are considered public domain. This video has never been released or licensed in the United States and is in Public Domain.

Video gone

And yet another shoe dropped. Revver locked up my account. Figures. No point in posting videos with revtags any more. I knew I'd never see the payout. My videos are still up, but I can't log in. And no e-mail from revver to explain the lock out. I wonder what's up.

On the upside I can still post to the AnimeHELL VideoBLOG without any problem. So, I'll just keep doing that.

Sometimes you just can't win. But you still go on.

Revvered

Looks like the other shoe dropped. 10 more commercials have been removed from my uploaded videos at revver.com and I'm sure there'll be more. Perhaps I've pissed off somebody who has enough time on his hands to email alert after alert to revver. Maybe it's the folks at revver reviewing my uploads. Maybe I've reached some arbitrary limit. Doesn't matter. I guess it's over. Nothing to worry about now. Time to move on to something else.

Or maybe not. Maybe somebody's decided to become copyright cop. In which case I'll just lay low for a week or so until they get bored.

それいけ!ばいきんまん

それいけ!ばいきんまん
Baikinman has his own website! Too freakin' cool!

Seems I've run afoul with revver.com. Two commercials that I uploaded to get tagged were removed, or reported. One was a twenty year old commercial for Activision Chopper Command for the Atari 2600 and the other was a Japanese McDonalds commercial. Now, my understanding is that tv commercials aren't copyrighted, the idea being that if the commercial is shown in other venues it's free advertising. Maybe I'm wrong. I can't seem to find anything about it online. Maybe I'll ask Metafilter.

On the other hand, I may be able to pay for another year of webhosting for AnimeHELL through the money raised from revtagged videos. This is all theory at this point, any amount is vaporware right now. Revver sets a three month wait period on all accounts. I'm sure I need to wait another month or two before and/or if I get a payout. And I'm thinking it's a big if at this point. Why gamble on something that may not pay off in the end? Still, It seems Revver may be generating more money then any of the other ad clicks. Both Amazon and Google haven't even cracked $10, even though their ads have been on the HELLblog longer then any other.

I really need to set my ass down and scan the cheapdisposable buttons and get to selling them. I also need to start makin' buttons for the upcoming cons. Crap. Always plenty of things to do, not enough time to do 'em.

Like the HELLzine.

Keep an eye on this blog...

While money is tight for my OtakuHELL budget I'm sorting and editing and doing as much prep work as I can for the upcoming Shiokazecon show. I've got enough new stuff and old stuff for a good 3 hour plus show. Chris and Myspleen are providing a ton of new stuff. And I've gotten a few good finds from Half Price and the Warehouse. And so I've got lots to work with and discs to be made.

I also need to design new titles for the show. I've got a few ideas for that...

Spent the evening transfering THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SPEED RACER to the Renderfarm harddrive. What a wreck of a show. I can't wait to inflict this at HELL. It's like the folks at Murakami Wolf Productions didn't even bother to watch the original series. There's nothing in this show that has any of the appeal or adventure or style of the original. And I'll save my rant about JAMES BOND JR. for another day.

Also captured GULLIVER'S TRAVELS BEYOND THE MOON, mostly for the RISE ROBOTS RISE scene, but there's alot of great images in this movie and an incredible soundtrack. It's one of those movies that eats into your mind and haunts you...

Just one more reason I don't go to the movies anymore...

The Daily Telegraph | Arrested for asking for quiet in cinema:Arrested for asking for quiet in cinema

By NICK PAPPS

February 11, 2006

AN Australian tourist has been charged with assault after telling a Texas woman to stop talking on her mobile phone at the movies.

Pauline Clayton was enjoying a matinee screening of Brokeback Mountain in a Texas cinema when her day suddenly turned ugly.

The former Sunshine Coast councillor said about halfway through the movie, a mobile phone started ringing nearby, a woman answered it and started talking.

"I put one finger up to my mouth to shoosh her," Ms Clayton said.

"She ignored me - I then leaned across and touched her with three or four fingers on the top of her arm."

When the "very large" woman failed to end her call, Ms Clayton again touched her on the shoulder and that was when the woman exploded.

Ms Clayton said the woman stood up over her, started shouting expletives at her and then stormed out of the cinema, in the town of Webster, just outside Houston.

A short time later two Texas police officers walked into the cinema and escorted Ms Clayton out.

She said the police took her to the food bar and explained that the woman had accused Ms Clayton of "invading her private space". The woman had made a complaint of assault because Ms Clayton had touched her.

"They were very apologetic," Ms Clayton said.

"They were very uncomfortable."

Ms Clayton said the officers had tried to dissuade the woman from making a complaint and had even told the woman that if she did make the complaint, police would charge the woman with disorderly conduct and using a profanity for her outburst in the cinema.

The woman refused to back down and not only was Ms Clayton charged, but the woman is now also due in court after being charged over her behaviour.

Ms Clayton was issued a citation and will appear in a Texas court next week to answer the charge.

With the help of an off-duty police officer who saw the fracas, she is hoping to escape with only a fine.

In the meantime Ms Clayton said she was hoping to get back to see the second half of Brokeback Mountain.

If convicted, Ms Clayton who grew up in Victoria and once worked as a journalist for The Sun newspaper in Brisbane, faces a fine of up to $675.

She said she had been told a conviction would not affect her chances of re-entering the US. Police said it was a "little matter" and they would not be notifying US immigration authorities about any conviction.

Yeah, I like that movie too much...

Because all things need to end.

As I type this Sargent Tibbs has crawled into my lap, turned around and wedged himself under my arm and is now streched out and purring like a motor. Sheesh.

Loads of tapes arrived yesterday. THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SPEED RACER, GULLIVER'S TRAVELS BEYOND THE MOON, and SINBAD THE SAILOR. Very nice. I think that's all the tapes I've ordered to date.

I'm wondering how the HD DVD market will affect the DVD and VHS sales/market...

Damn, I forgot to talk to Josh and Micheal about Texas Frightmare Weekend last night at dinner. Crap on a stick.

Ushicon Drama

Looks like I didn't miss much by not going to Ushicon last weekend. From the sound of it there were a few problems. Enough problems that next year's Ushicon is now in question.

And this is why I don't really go to anime cons any more. Or why I don't care about the whole scene. I just do my wacky clip show and I'm done with it.

Marzgurl's day out makes a very interesting Ushicon read...
