Master Ninja Gordon!

That's right, the other Richard Harrison from Ninja Squad. And he's been in more then a hundred movies. Surprisingly, not all of 'em have "ninja" in the title. Although I think it's safe to say that Master Ninja Gordon is his signature character as he's played it in over a dozen movies (almost all of which have "ninja" in the title...)

One thing I'm really curious about is who has the copyright on the Ninja films? Almost all of them are out of print and I can't find any of them on DVD. Perhaps they are in the public domain? Gotta find out!

I'm still looking for Richard Harrison's contact info. I'm dying to do an interview with him...Posted by Hello

Classic TV Commercials Volume 3

I previewed a bit of this compilation last night while making dinner. If Volume 4 is just as good as Volume 3 I'm gonna hafta get Volumes 1 and 2... Posted by Hello

Kids Commercials From the Golden Age of Television Volume 6

I watched the first hour of this compilation last night and it's pure gold. I'd never seen any of these clips in any of the comercial collections that are in the OtakuHELL Video Vault, and I've got alot of 'em. I can't wait to watch volumes 4 and 5! Posted by Hello

The Devil's Rain!

Saturday night me and Ed and Josh and Michael went out for supper and Michael mentioned that he wanted to find a copy of THE DEVIL'S RAIN! Sunday morning I find this in the racks at the used video store.

So we ended up watching it last night. And It's as bad as I remember it. Tin eared dialogue, copious amounts of travel padding, "suspenceful" pacing slows the film to a crawl, and more. Much, much more. Red shift flashback to the first satanic Thanksgiving Day thanks to combination plot device and damsel in distress. Inexplicable Van Hellsing impersonation by Eddie Albert who looks as if he stumbled in from GREEN ACRES. Tom Skerret can't save this bumbling mess, but he trys. Shatner emotes, Ida Lupino looks confused, and Ernest Borgnine chews the scenery for all it's worth. The best way to watch THE DEVIL'S RAIN is with a few drinks and a few friends to shout at the devil...Posted by Hello

Somebody actually put this on DVD! Cover design is crap, but I'm guessing they didn't have the rights to that cool painting they put on the VHS tape...

Be My Frankenstein...

Finally picked up a DVD burner and proceeded to put the now out of print FRANKENSTEIN: A CINEMATIC SCRAPBOOK on to DVDR. It's a collection of stills with a voice over and connecting all the FRANKENSTEIN movie trailers that Rhino put out on VHS. It also contains the trailer for Hammer's FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL, which Josh picked up at Half Price on saturday night. I'll have to borrow it from him.

I also picked up THE DEVIL CAME FROM AKASAVA and THE BEAUTIFUL, THE BLOODY, AND THE BARE/BEHIND LOCKED DOORS while I was at Fry's. Both look to be OtakuHELL fodder...

Flickr flik

My Pro-Account for Flickr runs out October 15th. I'm probablly gonna do the upgrade, I'm just gonna wait until next week to do it....

Meanwhile, The drama of the Viao continues. No laptop, no word, and I'm starting to worry that I've been scammed. But, maybe I'm just worrying about nothing...

There'll be a full accounting of the matter posted here as soon as some sort of resolution comes about.

The OtakuHELL Digital Video Disk Project

Progress on the OtakuHELL Video Disk is coming along nicely. I was able to get Josh and Micheal on board for the commentary tracks and found some really cheap microphones at discount electronics. If the Sony Viao is delivered tomorrow I'll use it to record the session. Most likely we'll record either at the Compound Entertainment Complex or at Bruce and Mundee's this weekend. The question is will this be a DVD or an SVCD at this point.

The more I'm thinking about it the more I'm leaning to SVCD. Sure, there'll be less content on the Disk, but it's cheaper, and this is the first one. Any mistakes will be that much less costly then if it was with DVD media. And when I finally switch over to DVD we can include the SVCD compilations as Extras.

I once told Bruce that I'd like to get a job doing DVD Authoring. In a way, this is it.

I'll have to ask Mundee how much we should sell these Video Disks for...

The Danno Documentary

Googling all these other Dan Bakers reminds me of a grant I once wrote for a student film. The idea was to go around the country and interview folks who shared my name. Simple interviews that explored identity and individuality. I thought it'd be cool. I'd call up Dan Bakers and ask 'em if they wanted to be in a documentary and see what happened. Unfortunately I didn't get that grant. Maybe it wasn't arty enough or something. Ah well.
